DR. DAVE HEATON Dr. Dave Heaton graduated from the Ontario Veterinary college in 1989 and has been practicing small animal medicine ever since then. He and his wife (Dr. Robbie Heather, also a veterinarian at the clinic) started Three Islands Veterinary Services in Bobcaygeon in 1991. They have 3 children. Samantha, the eldest, having graduated from a Bachelor of Science at Guelph University and completing an Ottawa diploma in Human Medical Ultrasound, now works full time in Peterborough as a Medical Sonographer. (We could not convince her to ultrasound animals). Eric, who is now 22 years old is currently studying at Algonquin college in Ottawa to become a Paramedic. He periodically returns to Three Islands Veterinary Services to help us out in the summers. Sarah, the youngest, is in her second year of college in Belleville studying Spa Management and Anesthetics. She returns home most weekends to practice her latest skills on her family. |
DR. ROBBIE HEATHER Dr. Robbie Heather is also a 1989 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College. She is a busy weekend mother when her kids return to the empty nest:-) They participate yearly in the "Ride for Farley" Fundraiser. They bike 100 km to raise money which helps provide veterinary care to owners and pets in need. |

Dr. Maggie Himann Dr. Maggie Himann graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1996. She has had many varied experiences in Veterinary Medicine including travelling to Central America for rescue work, practicing in Grand Cayman, working with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and working all over the province of Ontario as a Locum (a Veterinarian providing temporary Veterinary services in clinics). She settled in the Peterborough area almost 2 decades ago and has recently moved to Buckhorn. Although Dr. Maggie has been working at Three Islands Veterinary Services for almost 12 years she hasn't had the opportunity to meet ALL of our clients. She has covered holidays, maternity leaves and sick days, working here intermittently during those years. Dr. Maggie currently joins us again to cover Dr. Jessica's maternity leave. In 2018 Dr. Maggie was one of the founding partners in Peterborough Veterinary Outreach, which provides wellness care for pets through community partners such as the Mount, and the Wollen Mill. For more information about their program please leave a message for Jan at 249-490-8363 When Dr Maggie is not working, she is exploring the many waterways in this beautiful area via kayak, spending time with her 9 (yes, 9) pets and watching the seasons change from her front porch. |
