Dr. Dave Heaton

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our esteemed colleague and cherished friend, Dr. Dave Heaton on Monday March 11, 2024. Dr. Dave Heaton was an integral part of our veterinary community, known for his years of dedication and compassion for the clients and pets in his care.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his kindness and expertise.

Dr. Dave Heaton graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1989 and has been practicing small animal medicine ever since then. He and Dr. Robbie Heather, also a veterinarian at the clinic, started Three Islands Veterinary Services in Bobcaygeon in 1991. Dave has 3 children. Samantha, the eldest, graduated with a Bachelor of Science at Guelph University and completed an Ottawa diploma in Human Medical Ultrasound. She now works full-time in Peterborough as a Medical Sonographer. (We could not convince her to ultrasound animals). Eric, who is now 27 years old, is a paramedic in Ottawa. Sarah, the youngest, is in her third year of college at Trent studying Human Kinetics with the hope of becoming a physiotherapist. Dr. Dave and family have lived in the Bobcaygeon area for 27 years. Dave is pictured here with his sidekick, Pickle...who no longer fits in the kayak. Dave's special outside interests included long distance cycling, badminton, canoeing, camping, and kayaking. At the clinic, he enjoyed most types of surgery, spending much less time doing front office appointments than in the past. He had a special interest in dog and cat dentistry and oral cancer surgery for many years, performing 100-200 major oral/dental procedures per year.
